"Quite the little adventure you had last night." I mused.

She stood there drenched to the bone. Dull drops of water fell to the floor from her sopping sleeve in a slow rhythm, like the beating of her heart.
Both of her knees were bent slightly inward, and her face, hidden by dripping bangs, was colorless.

I continued, "I see you want to get wet."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Waking up, I greeted the morning.
I couldn't be happier.
I knew she'd be there waiting.
Unlike the other mornings when uncertainty enveloped my chest, I'd rouse to find her bedroom empty, and pretend to never notice her sneaking in.

_______________________________________________________

"Am I not good enough?!" I shouted at her.
She wouldn't look into my eyes.
I latched onto her chin, and jerked it up. Her wet hair was plastered to her face, and I clawed it out of the way.
"One day," I began through gritted teeth, "you will lie beneath me and you will cry out my name with a passion you will be unable to suppress. One day, you will give yourself to me in every way, body and soul. You'll never leave me again"

I chuckled as she trembled. "Are you afraid?"

That night, she did scream my name.
_______________________________________________________

"My lovely fish." I called, "Did you eat what I gave you for breakfast? It's your favorite."
I peered into the tank.
"Of course not, you never do. Not anymore."
_______________________________________________________

I don't understand.
I sat on the edge of my bed, face resting in my hand.
I repeated this. It was what I wanted.
"She'll never leave me now. She'll never leave. She can't leave me."

But she's gone.
